We were very much waiting for this spring to check new information about underground communication center under military city of Chernobyl-2 which were hidden from human eyes for more then 15 years. According to one of ANOTHER.KIEV informants who were illegal metal thief in 1996 he was in huge underground object situated under radar station, and he exactly tell us where is the entrance. For all winter we had been waiting for time when show will melt away and we can go for illegal stalker hikes to check information by our own.

Duga-3 radar station or “Russian Woodpecker”  was a Soviet over-the-horizon (OTH) radar system used as part of the Soviet anti-ballistic missileearly-warning network. The system operated from July 1976 to December 1989. It’s not possible to imagine that so much huge military complex didn’t have underground bunker. But till this moment in Interned hasn’t exist any information about this, so we were first.

I like spring in Exclusion Zone and every stalker sneaking trip make me alive and feel this post apocalyptic virgin nature. After night of hikes throw the forests and abandoned villages we came to DUGA-3 radar station, but today our goal was not climbing on the top, like in summer illegal trips but checking our new information.

Virgin Chernobyl Zone Nature is waking up from winter sleeping.

The Duga systems were extremely powerful, over 10 MW in some cases, and broadcast in the shortwave radio bands. They appeared without warning, sounding like a sharp, repetitive tapping noise at 10 Hz, which led to it being nicknamed by shortwave listeners the Russian Woodpecker. The random frequency hops disrupted legitimate broadcasts, amateur radiooperations, oceanic commercial aviation communications, utility transmissions, and resulted in thousands of complaints by many countries worldwide. The signal became such a nuisance that some receivers such as amateur radios and televisions actually began including ‘Woodpecker Blankers’ in their circuit designs in an effort to filter out the interference.
