With a lot of fun, guided by an urban explorer-veteran, you will dive deep inside the URBEX culture and feel on your skin how to become an explorer with real experience obtained in a safe and legal way. We will push you out of your comfort zone to make you return with new skills and knowledge (totally new!).

Behind a rusty blast resistant door, you can find a capsule of time with frozen inside Soviet artifacts. Feel like an explorer walking along corridors of a ghost-like nuclear bunker. How much money they have buried in the name of the Cold War! And now, you can touch the hidden and exciting page of history!

The Underground Tunnel System
Wear waders, gloves, take a torch and jump to a manhole to explore a real hidden page of Kyiv history. The drain system “Mykilska” is a 3 km long and up to 36 meters deep tunnel labyrinth which was built by the Russian Empire engineering forces in 1916 to protect Kyiv Pechersk Lavra hills from landslides. Staying during 1.5 hours underground, you will:
- Explore non-tourist ancient labyrinth under central Kyiv
- Discover being in absolute darkness
- Push your limits and open new horizons.

All important equipment and services for your guaranteed comfortable exploration are included in the tour price, no extra fees!
- Rubber Soviet waders (this unique rubber high boots from the Soviet military protective wear set you can wear over your shoes)
- A pair of gloves
- A torch
- Transfer between objects.
For passing the underground route, you need to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, which you will be not upset about making a little bit dirty and wet – as you are going to the real underground tunnels. Be ready for adventures!
Pants must be with a belt or take a belt with you separately. The temperature underground is about +12 °, regardless of the temperature on the surface.
Don’t take massive backpacks and bags with you. Better not take bags at all or take a small one. It is not comfortable to move in tunnels with big bags full of massive camera gear.

In case you order the Kyiv UNDERGROUND URBEX TOUR without pick-up, the group meeting place is the hall of “Dnipro” Metro station.
During the Kyiv URBEX tour, you will not offend any Ukrainian law. In some countries, “URBEX” means visiting forbidden places but to engage you into the atmosphere of exploration, we use only legal methods.
We have been running tours since 2012 and haven’t had any accidents, resulting in injury of participants so far. In case of any scratches, you can get during the tour, the URBEX guides always have professional first aid kit at hand.
- Don’t take massive backpacks with you! (some part of the route goes through the tunnels, which are narrow or/and have a low ceiling (1,6 m high))
- Put on a cap or something on your head!
- Put on comfortable clothes you are not afraid to make a little dirty. No tuxedo and high heels! 🙂
- If you are interested in taking pictures, take a tripod with you.

Wow, this trip was just amazing, Max is a great tour guide, really knows his stuff.
Very helpful and very knowledgable.
All in all a fab few hours exploring the depths of Kiev. I was thinking I was going to crawling on my hands and knees thankfully this wasn’t the case, more of a low stoop with some very low ceilings.
As a tip do not go in your best clothes, wear sensible outfits that you don’t mind getting a bit mucky. Don’t forget to wear a belt to hold your gum boots up.
I would highly recommend this to anybody who wants to have a break from the norm.

This experience was a break neck tour of subterranean kiev. Our guide (Max?) passionate, funny and well informed about the underground drainage tunnels of Kiev and the usage and protocols of the old Civil Defense Nuclear bunkers. We never felt unsafe and the provided gear meant we were only slightly dirty coming out! People over 6ft might struggle with the shorter ceiling passages that require you to bend over significantly. All in all, a great and informative tour in a challenging location!

This was simply great. The tunnels were a fun activity to explore, not too physical (a bit tougher to crouch-walk when you're 6' 4" but still easily done) as you went through them. Max's English was perfect and he was very knowledgeable about the Kyiv underground. The second aspect of the trip at the Cold War Bunker was superb. It was Untouched and real history surrounding you instead of in an exhibition behind a glass case. Highly recommend if you're visiting Kyiv.

We highly recommend this Kiev Urbex Tour to the drain tunnels and a bunker to everyone who wants to see different things than usually. Our guide Max was really good and told many special things about the tunnels and bunker. 3 hours tour went so fast, sneaking around was really fun and excitement! At tunnels you need special "rubbershoes", which they'll give you, and also gloves and torche are included. We would like to go more to the different local ug and abandoned places with them, please organize them more!

Tunnel were interesting to see, but the real highlight was the building visited after that. Very interesting to see the almost untouched archives, storage, offices and command parts.
