Under city-center of Kyiv exist two huge underground water supply reservoirs. First one is with huge historycal heritage. It was built in 1871 as a part of first Kyiv water supply system, in 1950s object was refitted as a fallout shelter and totally abandoned in 1990s. The main hall of the underground reservoir. Arches and ceilings made of bricks are stand on massive columns.

Second abandoned water reservoir much massive object and it was built in cold war times as an emergency water supply. It has the size of football field and celling are holding on the 8-meters high columns. Under Kyiv 96 meters deep exist water pipe tunnels system which has 6 kilometers long. This tunnel, named “Shtolnya-1” was built in 1973-1976 as a secret object. This is a crossroads of tunnels in which are located several huge gates. This room is connected to the reservoir by shaft. Shaft has 96 meters high. Something similar to this object but much more ancient exist in Istanbul, Turkey. You can read here Basilica Cistern.
